The announcement comes ahead of an exclusive dinner at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, where the top 220 holders of the meme coin $TRUMP will join Trump for an evening of celebration and, presumably, crypto talk. Among the expected guests: TRON founder Justin Sun, who reportedly holds over $23 million worth of $TRUMP tokens.

The event has sparked political pushback. Congresswoman Maxine Waters introduced the Stop TRUMP in Crypto Act, a bill that aims to bar current U.S. leaders from launching or promoting cryptocurrencies while in office. Critics argue Trump’s ties to projects like World Liberty Financial and the USD1 stablecoin raise serious ethical concerns.

Still, Trump is doubling down on his pro-crypto stance. He highlighted that the U.S. government now holds nearly 198,000 BTC, much of it seized from criminal operations. Trump wants to formalize these holdings into a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, part of a broader plan to make the U.S. the global hub for digital assets.

Meanwhile, lawmakers continue to debate the GENIUS Act, which could bring a new regulatory framework to stablecoins if passed.

Whether it’s political strategy or genuine blockchain bullishness, one thing is clear: crypto is now front and center in U.S. politics — and Trump’s betting big on it.
