Regulatory Approval Strengthens EU Compliance Framework

OKX obtained the PI license under Malta’s financial regulatory structure and EU payment laws. As a result, OKX can provide regulated stablecoin payment services across member states. The approval supports compliance with the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation and the Second Payment Services Directive.

Moreover, EU rules require crypto asset service providers to hold PI or EMI authorization for stablecoin payments. Therefore, OKX secured the PI license to meet those requirements and ensure lawful operations. The license establishes a clear legal base for its expanding European services.

In addition, OKX previously received a MiCA license from the Malta Financial Services Authority in early 2025. That authorization strengthened its crypto asset services across the bloc. Now, the PI license complements that approval and broadens payment capabilities.

USDC Expands Utility Through OKX Pay Integration

OKX Pay supports stablecoin payments, including USDC, across approved European markets. Consequently, users can send and receive digital dollar transactions within a regulated framework. The PI license ensures that these activities comply with EU payment standards.

OKX positions USDC as a tool for faster cross-border settlements and digital commerce. The company integrates payment infrastructure to reduce transaction friction and processing delays. As a result, USDC gains broader everyday utility within compliant channels.

At the same time, OKX strengthens its operational controls and reporting standards. The license requires adherence to consumer protection and financial transparency rules. Therefore, OKX maintains structured oversight while expanding USDC payment access.

USDG and Card Services Advance Under EU Rules

OKX also enables USDG transactions through its payment services and card products. The OKX Card allows users to spend supported stablecoins for daily purchases. With the PI license, OKX ensures that USDG payments operate under EU regulation.

Additionally, OKX partnered with Mastercard to extend crypto payment functionality in Europe. This collaboration supports card acceptance across participating merchants. The new license provides the regulatory structure necessary for broader rollout.

OKX continues to expand stablecoin infrastructure as part of its long-term European strategy. The company also supports ecosystem projects through its investment arm. Through regulatory approvals and partnerships, OKX advances compliant digital payment services across the EU.
