Hamster Kombat airdrop to be released on September 26

Hamster Kombat, the leading tap-to-earn game on Telegram, announced on Wednesday via its official channel that it will launch the highly anticipated HMSTR token on The Open Network (TON) on September 26. The token launch will be accompanied by an airdrop for players on the same day.

Originally scheduled for a July release, the HMSTR token rollout was postponed to allow for additional planning necessary for the large-scale drop. Since its debut this spring, Hamster Kombat has attracted over 300 million players, according to a July statement from the team. Data from Telegram further reveals that the game boasts more than 80 million active players in the past month alone.

Hamster Kombat is built around the popular tap-to-earn format introduced by Notcoin earlier this year, leveraging a "mini app" within Telegram. Notcoin, which set the precedent for this gameplay model, amassed 35 million players and launched the largest gaming token of the year.

The anonymous developers behind Hamster Kombat, who also created a crypto exchange CEO simulation based on the tapping mechanism, have managed to draw an even larger audience, fueling heightened anticipation for the upcoming token launch, which promises rewards for players.

The announcement of the airdrop comes shortly after The Open Network experienced significant congestion on Tuesday, resulting in the network going offline for several hours. A representative from TON confirmed to Decrypt early Wednesday that the issues were linked to the token launch of another project, DOGS, but assured that the network is now fully operational.
