Elon Musk Unveils XChat: A New Era of Encrypted Messaging on X

Elon Musk has officially launched XChat, an encrypted messaging feature within X (formerly Twitter), designed to enhance privacy and revolutionize communication on the platform. XChat supports end-to-end encryption, vanishing messages, audio/video calls, and file sharing, aiming to offer users a secure and dynamic communication experience.

Musk describes the encryption technology as “Bitcoin-style”, built on a new architecture developed using the Rust programming language—highlighting both security and performance.

But XChat is more than a messaging upgrade—it's a crucial step toward Musk’s larger vision of creating an “everything app”, similar to China’s WeChat. With plans to integrate social media, secure messaging, payments, and potentially cryptocurrency services, XChat is the foundation of a multifunctional platform that could redefine digital interaction.

Currently available to premium X subscribers, wider access to XChat is expected in future platform updates. As Musk continues to reshape the future of X, XChat marks a significant milestone in the journey toward a unified, encrypted, and versatile digital space.
