Elon Musk has officially launched XChat, an encrypted messaging feature within X (formerly Twitter), designed to enhance privacy and revolutionize communication on the platform. XChat supports end-to-end encryption, vanishing messages, audio/video calls, and file sharing, aiming to offer users a secure and dynamic communication experience.

Musk describes the encryption technology as “Bitcoin-style”, built on a new architecture developed using the Rust programming language—highlighting both security and performance.

But XChat is more than a messaging upgrade—it's a crucial step toward Musk’s larger vision of creating an “everything app”, similar to China’s WeChat.
